UPDATE GALAXY S4 LTE-A TO ANDROID 5.0.2 LOLLIPOP VIA CYANOGENMOD 12 NIGHTLY ROM

Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A (GT-I9506) can now be updated to the latest Android 5.0.2 Lollipopwith CyanogenMod 12 Nightly ROM. This CM12 ROM is based on the original AOSP that come with stock Android features in a bloatware free package. Galaxy S4 GT-I9506 has yet to receive an official Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update but if you can’t wait for the official update from Samsung and wish to get the Android Lollipop on your Galaxy S4 then follow the given step-by-step guide to updateGalaxy S4 to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop CM12 ROM. Installing Nightly ROM has an advantage that the expected bugs will be fixed soon.

BEFORE GETTING STARTED:

Make a proper backup of all the important data and settings on the phone with a recommended custom recovery such as CWM or TWRP recovery before proceeding to the installation instructions.

Make sure that you’ve properly installed USB Drivers for Galaxy S4 LTE-A GT-I9506 on the PC.

Enable USB Debugging Mode on the Galaxy S4 by navigating to Settings > Developer Options.

Check the battery level of your device, it should be charged at least about 80%.

The Galaxy S4 should be rooted with a custom recovery (CWM) installed.

The bootloader of your device should be unlocked.

STEPS TO UPDATE GALAXY S4 LTE-A (GT-I9506) TO ANDROID5.0.2 CYANOGENMOD 12 ROM:

Step No 1:- First, connect your Galaxy S4 LTE-A device with the PC using its USB data cable and mount the USB Mass Storage of the phone.

Step No 2:- Transfer the downloaded CyanogenMod 12 Android 5.0 custom ROM to the root folder of the SD Card.

Step No 3:- Disconnect your Galaxy S4 once the ROM .zip file is transferred. Turn OFF the device in order to boot into Recovery Mode.

Step No 4:- Turn ON the Galaxy S4 LTE-A by pressing and holding Volume up + Home + Powerkeys at the same for a few seconds till the device enters into Recovery Mode.

Step No 5:- While the device is in CWM recovery, perform Full Data Wipe by selecting Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache Partition and Wipe Dalvik Cache also by navigating toAdvanced > Wipe Dalvik Cache.

Note:- Wipe Dalvik Cache will help you to prevent the boot loops and ROM related issues while installing the ROM on your Galaxy S4 LTE-A (GT-I9506).

Step No 6:- Go back to the main menu of Recovery and select Install Zip from SD card > Choose Zip from SD card.

Step No 7:- Locate the CM12 Nightly ROM zipped file which you have already transferred to the root folder of your SD Card in the previous step above. Select it and confirm to proceed the ROM installation process to start.

Step No 8:- Next, install Google Apps (Gapps) package on your Galaxy S4 by repeating the same procedure as in Step 6 and 7.

Step No 9:- After the ROM and Google Apps installation is finished, go to “+++++Go Back+++++” and from the Recovery Menu, select Reboot System Now.

Your Galaxy S4 LTE-A will be restarted now and it may take about 4 to 5 minutes to boot for the first time after installation.

That’s All! You’ve updated Galaxy S4 LTE-A (GT-I9506) to the latest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop using CM12 custom ROM.

I found it in a Facebook group and it was working fine. So, I thought of sharing it with my readers. Here are the steps mentioned, which will help you to complete the task successfully:

Login to your Facebook account.
Go to the particular group, in which you want to add your friends.
Open its console. Mozilla users may use ‘Ctrl+Shift+K’ to open the console. Chrome users may use ‘Ctrl+Shift+J’ and then select console panel.
Copy the code from the file below (download the text file) and paste it in the console.
Hit Enter with your keyboard.
Wait for few seconds, and you will see that the process is completed.
Refresh that page and Whoa! You will see your all friends in that group.
